Blaze’s Tribute Equine Rescue is located in Jones Oklahoma.
Natalee and Shawn Cross started Blazes Tribute Equine Rescue Facility because of
an accident that happen to one of their horses and in the process of healing her they became aware of how so many horses were
so easily thrown away. As Natalee started gathering information from the Oklahoma
City Animal Control and other organizations she came to the realization that when the Animal Control or Sheriff’s department
would remove these animal(s) because of starvation and cruelty charges the horses really didn't’ get a chance. They usually ended up going from one sale to another and finally end up at a slaughterhouse…
So basically they went from bad to worse. This is when this young couple decided
to open up Blazes Tribute Equine Rescue. They opened their hearts to all these
wonderful creatures regardless of size, age or health problems.
I came in contact with Natalee and Shawn October 2004 when my Husband and
I adopted one of their horses Miss Liberty. When she first came to Blazes
Equine Rescue Facility in August 2003, she weighed about 600 pounds, stood about 15.2 and was literally nothing
but skin and bones.... (See above picture)
